Vice President Signs Energy Agreement with Armenia

He also announced a U.S. drone technology sale to that nation.

Vice President JD Vance visited Armenia after leading a U.S. delegation to the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Italy. His trip is the first time a sitting U.S. president or vice president has visited Armenia.

Vice President Vance met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday and announced a U.S. drone technology sale to Armenia. The vice president and prime minister also signed a civil nuclear energy agreement.

President Donald Trump negotiated a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan last August. The two former Soviet republics had battled over territory in the Karabakh region.

The State Department explained that Vice President Vance’s visit would also “advance President Donald Trump’s peace efforts and promote the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).” The TRIPP corridor seeks to connect the Nakhchivan exclave, currently separated entirely by Armenian territory, with Azerbaijan.

The vice president said, “We are not just making peace for Armenia. We are also creating real prosperity for Armenia and the United States together.” He proceeded to Azerbaijan on Tuesday to meet with that nation’s officials.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Vice President Vance as he meets with foreign heads of state and signs partnerships and agreements.
  • For President Trump and members of his administration as they seek to cultivate peace internationally.
  • For the president and vice president as they promote technology and commerce to increase global cooperation.
